Christmas is very near 🎄🎅
Today’s recipe is one of the season’s goodies. It takes some time, but it is emblematic for this holiday.

500 g all-purpose flour

100 g sugar

7 g instant yeast

5 egg yolks, room temperature

150 ml milk, room temperature

150 g butter room temperature

½ tsp kosher salt

Filling

200 g chocolate, chopped

100 g sugar

100 g butter

50 g cocoa powder

100 g nuts, chopped

Dough

Using a stand mixer whisk flour, sugar and yeast.

Add the egg yolks, milk, salt and mix on low speed until combined and a dough starts to form.

Add the butter gradually and continue kneading until a smooth elastic dough forms, about 15-20 minutes.

Cover the dough and rest for at least 2 hours.

Filling

In a pan add the butter, sugar and chocolate and melt over a low heat, until combined. Remove from the heat and stir in the cocoa powder and nuts and set aside.

Preheat the oven to 180 C and prepare 2 loaf pans with parchment paper.

On a lightly oiled surface, divide the dough in half, and roll the dough into a rectangle. Spread half of the filling on dough all the way to the edge and roll the dough.

Using a knife, cut the dough in half lengthwise and twist the halves together, keeping the cut sides facing up, then place it in a prepared loaf pan.

Repeat with the second half of the dough and the remaining filling.

Cover the pans and let rise in a warm place for 1- 2 hours or until noticeably puffed

Bake for 40 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. The smell is incredible!
